Scotland U21s star Adam Devine has just a sent reminder to Rangers manager Philippe Clement of what he’s capable of.

Starring for the Tartan Army’s youth side, Rangers talent Adam Devine started in the right wing-back position and impressed against a talented young Belgian side.

With fellow Rangers academy star Leon King also starting the game, the young Scots ran out 2-0 winners in European Under-21 Championship qualifying.

But it was Adam Devine who grabbed the attention of fans come full-time after his stunning cross assisted Jeremiah Mullen to head home the opener.

Floating the left-foot ball perfectly into the path of Mullen to nod home, it’s a moment of genuine quality which should act as a reminder to Rangers. About 45 seconds into the highlights below.

Adam Devine on Rangers outskirts

Adam Devine has made just one appearance for the club this season and that was the final nine or so minutes in the 2-1 League Cup victory over Greenock Morton at Ibrox.

It’s a moment which sends a reminder to Rangers regarding the young player’s status in the squad, Adam Devine a step further back in the club’s pecking order from last season.

With Dujon Sterling joining in the summer – having turned down a contract offer from Chelsea in the process – it means Adam Devine is effectively 3rd choice right-back behind captain James Tavernier.

What’s more, Philippe Clement opted to play Ben Davies at left-back over Adam Devine as the club faced absences in the Europa League qualifier away to Sparta Prague.

Whilst the move was justified as Davies played his part in a 0-0 draw, it could’ve been seen as a blow for the Belgian’s belief in the youngster.

Adam Devine had been pitched in at left-back by Michael Beale last season and initially impressed.

Philippe Clement has call to make

It’s a snub which will have some questioning Adam Devine’s situation at Rangers and the clip of his stunning Scotland assist might see one or two others do the same.

At a time when Rangers’ lack of homegrown talents or players is directly impacting with European squad registration rules, nurturing our own talent is paramount.

Adam Devine might be no Nathan Patterson – just yet – but the assist shows Rangers have something in the 20-year-old they might regret neglecting.

The young right-back will be targeting more minutes and Philippe Clement has a decision to make regarding the availability of them Glasgow.
