On Thursday afternoon, the club released a training gallery on Rangers.co.uk to show the squad’s preparations for Saturday’s fixture against Aberdeen.

It’s another quick turnaround for the Gers, who were in action in Livingston until late on Wednesday evening.

However, it seems Steven Gerrard’s options will be boosted for the return to league action.

Brandon Barker, who missed the League Cup quarter-final, appeared to play a full part in Thursday’s training session.

In the gallery, he can be seen emerging from the changing rooms, before taking part in shooting and mobility drills.

Earlier in the week, Gary McAllister confirmed that the summer recruit had an “issue with his toe” [Daily Record], but it can’t have been overly serious in light of this most recent evidence.

The former Manchester City player has made just four appearances since arriving in Glasgow last month but has featured more prominently in recent matches due to injuries to fellow wingers Jordan Jones and Ryan Kent.

With his competition still on the sidelines, he’ll be looking to capitalise on his chances to impress.

With Steven Gerrard unlikely to go in all guns blazing against the Dons at Ibrox, only one of Barker or Sheyi Ojo is likely to get the nod on Saturday afternoon.

In the 22-year-old’s only other domestic appearance at Ibrox, he scored a fine goal against Livingston. He’ll be hoping that strike is still fresh in the manager’s mind, when he’s selecting the starting XI.
