Rangers loanee Docherty won't be rushed back at Shrewsbury

Last Saturday, Greg Docherty had to be withdrawn from Shrewsbury Town’s fixture at Bristol Rovers after sustaining an eye injury.
According to the Shropshire Star, he is now a doubt to feature for his adopted side at the weekend.

The Rangers loanee had been struck in the face with the ball shortly after coming on as a substitute.
After attempting to play on, blurred vision brought his afternoon to an early conclusion.
This weekend, the Shrews are back in action against Burton Albion.

Due to their current league situation, they could really do with their star midfielder back.

Yet, sensibly, manager, Sam Ricketts, says they don’t intend on taking any risks.
“We’ll keep assessing him and see how that goes”,
the former Wolves player told the Shropshire Star.
“You need to make sure you look after at the player’s long-term health, not just looking at this game.”
“We’ll see how he is over the next couple of games.”

That certainly sounds like a sensible approach.
With five goals and six assists in the league from the centre of midfield, Docherty has been a consistent standout performer for the third tier outfit.
They will be thankful his injury isn’t a serious one, and will hope to have him back involved as soon as is reasonably possible.
