During Friday’s press conference, as quoted by the official Rangers Twitter account, Steven Gerrard provided injury updates on six Rangers first team players.
There were several bouts of bad news.

Jermain Defoe

The high profile January signing is a doubt for Saturday’s clash with St Johnstone. Gerrard says Defoe is experiencing tightness in his hamstring.

Kyle Lafferty

Unfortunately, the Northern Ireland international is also doubtful for the Saints clash. He has a tight calf. This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Lafferty, as Alfredo Morelos’ suspension was offering him a big chance to impress. Both he and Defoe will take some part in training.

Connor Goldson

The vice-captain has got the all clear ahead of the weekend. He has struggled with an ankle problem since before the winter break but is fit to play.

Eros Grezda

The Albanian international picked up a foot injury at Rangers’s mid-season training camp in Tenerife. His manager confirmed he’s ‘still a little bit away’.

Jamie Murphy

The winger has been out with a major knee injury since August. He was pictured running again during the camp in Tenerife. Furthermore, Gerrard says he has now started ball work, but won’t be back until the back end of the season.

Graham Dorrans

Dorrans has been plagued by injury during his time at Rangers. He is currently on his way back from knee surgery, but Gerrard revealed today that he has suffered a setback. His return date is still unknown.
