As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has responded to the news that Jordan Rossiter has picked up a serious knee injury whilst in action for loan club Fleetwood Town and could be out for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a regular fixture in midfield for the Trawlermen since joining in July, racking up over 1000 minutes of action in EFL League One.

However, his rotten luck with injuries struck again during last Saturday’s 2-1 win at home to Tranmere Rovers, when he was forced off in the 76th minute.
“It’s extremely disappointing for the kid because he got himself back playing regularly and he showed that he can be a robust player,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “He was in good form and enjoying his football and it was great to see. It’s a huge blow for him and it’s bad luck.”
“I think he has decided to stay down in Fleetwood. We opened it up to him to come here and receive treatment but Fleetwood is closer to his home and family so it makes sense for him to get treatment there.
“But all our medical staff are available to him for whatever he needs over the course of the injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Verdict
It’s good to see the club responding quickly to the news of the injury, both through Gerrard’s comments and the offering of support from the medical team, as, after all, Rossiter is still a Rangers player.
Given the major injury problems he’s had in the past, this will be a bitter pill to swallow for the ex-Liverpool Academy star, especially given his strong start to the campaign.
The long-term injury is likely to take him up to the end of his loan spell in England, which will coincide with the expiration of his Ibrox contract.
The good news is that at just 22, Rossiter still has many years of football left in him. If he can work hard on his recovery and get himself back fit by the summer, hopefully, a good club will snap him up on a free.
