Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has provided an injury update on Juninho Bacuna after the midfielder was forced off in the first half of a 1-0 defeat to Sparta Prague [RangersTV].
It was a second consecutive Europa League defeat for the Gers, with David Hancko’s 29th-minute header enough to earn the hosts all three points.
Not long after Hancko’s goal, Bacuna, who was making his first start for the club after joining on a two-year deal from Huddersfield Town in August, was replaced by Ianis Hagi.
The Curacao international pointed to his thigh as he left the pitch and could then be seen talking to the Light Blues’ medical staff.
With Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh already unavailable, it would be a real blow if the Gers were to be without another midfielder for a significant period.
But Gerrard is optimistic that the problem isn’t a serious one.
‘We’re hoping that we’ve got to the injury before it’s got any worse,” he said [RangersTV].
“We’re hoping to have him available at the weekend but he’s certainly only got an outside chance right now.”

Rangers remain bottom of Europa League Group A and now face an uphill task to reach the knockout stages.
They don’t have long to regroup before they’re back in domestic action, either, with Hibernian, who are still unbeaten in the Premiership, the opponents in a 3pm kick-off at Ibrox on Sunday.
