Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Ryan Jack is a ‘major doubt’ for Rangers’ Europa League clash against Standard Liege at Ibrox on Thursday night [Rangers FC Twitter].
The Gers can secure progression to the Round of 32 with a win over the Belgian club, while a draw would also be enough should Lech Poznan fail to beat Benfica in Portugal.
However, the home side could be without key man, Jack, who is still struggling with a muscle injury.
The 28-year-old picked up the problem in a 4-0 win over his old club Aberdeen last month and has since missed fixtures against Benfica and Falkirk.
Jack is a ‘major doubt’ to face Standard Liege, with his manager asserting that he has a ‘good chance’ of being ready to face Ross County on Sunday [Rangers FC Twitter].
It isn’t all bad news ahead of the Europa League fixture, though, with Joe Aribo and Brandon Barker both in contention.
Aribo has missed the last two matches with a minor illness, while Barker limped out of Sunday’s win over Falkirk in just the 26th minute.
“Aribo will hopefully be back with us, assuming he comes through today’s session,” said Gerrard. “Barker will train his morning and hopefully make the squad.”
