Rangers star Connor Goldson has been included in a training montage ahead of the club’s trip to Sparta Prague amid rumours the player didn’t board the plane to the Czech Republic.

Ibrox vice-captain Goldson is a hugely influential player for the club and social media has been awash with the claims which have yet to be substantiated by the club or any official reports.

However, as the rumour mill goes into overdrive Rangers have released a timely video of the big defender preparing for the Europa League clash in Prague.

It’s little wonder there remains some confusion with the claims seemingly originating from online Rangers forum Follow, Follow.

But whilst the player’s situation remains unconfirmed as things stand, comments from Steven Gerrard regarding Covid-19 testing in the pre-match press conference make interesting reading.

Gerrard bemoaned the Covid situation messing with his pre-match preparations and claimed the club was still awaiting results whilst there was no suggestion Goldson would miss out.

“This Covid’s not gone away,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“I’m still waiting on the results of certain tests that were done on Tuesday, waiting for them to be negative to see who I’ve got available.

“I just find it really hard to find a settled team at the moment.

“It’s been said that we’re not full of life at the moment.

“But the team is changing a lot, whether that be an injury we have picked up or from the first day of the season when we reported back, we’ve had numerous Covid situations.

“So it’s been hard to pick the same team and try to find your rhythm and your cohesion and give people time to play together.

“It’s been really difficult to pick a settled team and I think that’s going to be the case moving forward.

“The amount of games is one issue where you are naturally going to pick up a knock or two, but the Covid situation is still there.

“Just because outside life is improving and is changing back to normality, inside we are still testing a couple of times a week.

“At any given moment you can be thrown a curveball and we’ve noticed this season there’s been a lot more curveballs thrown.”

With all this in mind, we’d urge supporters to take any rumours with a pinch of salt and await more relevant information regarding the status of Rangers star Connor Goldson.

However, if Goldson is out it leaves Rangers threadbare at the back with Leon Balogun the only recognised centre-back available because Jack Simpson isn’t in the European squad and Filip Helander is injured.

Ahead of the Europa League clash, Rangers have reportedly been boosted by some serious injury worries in the Sparta Prague camp.
