Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has provided an injury update and dropped a selection hint ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Kilmarnock, as quoted by the Rangers Football Club Twitter.

The Gers are looking for three points in their first league match at Ibrox since the 5-0 mauling of Hearts at the beginning of the month.

The manager will have Alfredo Morelos available again following suspension, but centre-back, Filip Helander won’t be seen again until the New Year.

Meanwhile, there was a positive update on the availabilities of both Steven Davis and Jordan Jones.

“Davis is back in full training and Jones is back knocking on the door also,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the club’s Twitter account.

Given that Davis has been out for three weeks and Jones close to four months, it’s perhaps unlikely that either player will start this one.

Yet, with an Old Firm on the horizon, minutes off the bench could prove valuable preparation.

After a convincing display at Easter Road on Friday night, Gerrard has hinted that he won’t be doing much tinkering, even with that trip to Parkhead falling just three days after the Killie clash.

With managerless Kilmarnock recording just one win in their last nine matches and losing their third game on the spin at the weekend, there’s every reason for the Gers to be confident going into this one.
