Rangers have been dealt a double injury blow with two key players ruled out of the weekend clash against Hibernian and major doubts for the Scottish Cup Old Firm [Rangers FC Twitter].
The Gers will take on the Hibees in their first post-split Premiership fixture on Sunday afternoon but whilst speaking to the media on Friday morning, Steven Gerrard confirmed that skipper James Tavernier and influential midfielder Ryan Jack would both miss the game.

Tavernier has been out since sustaining a knee injury during Rangers’ first-leg Europa League Round of 32 clash against Royal Antwerp in Belgium in mid-February.
Meanwhile, Jack recently visited a specialist in London in an attempt to get to the bottom of a problem that has kept him sidelined for a similar period.
He was expected to make a comeback in World Cup Qualifiers for Scotland last month but was forced to pull out of the squad just days before their opening fixture.
“We are still waiting on news on Ryan Jack, hopefully, [we] get positive news shortly,” said Gerrard [Rangers FC Twitter].
“James Tavernier is still training on his own and hopefully, we have him back in a couple of weeks.”

As well as missing Sunday’s clash with Hibs, both players are now major doubts for a clash against Celtic in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup at Ibrox on 17th April.
Meanwhile, a Premiership manager has explained why a wonderkid snubbed Ibrox and overseas interest to pen a new contract.
