According to the Daily Mail, Rangers backup goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is subject to transfer interest from Championship clubs Middlesbrough and Birmingham City, with his current Ibrox contract expiring in the summer.
If there’s a genuine prospect of him becoming the first-choice keeper at either of those clubs, it’s an opportunity he should be taking.
A Scottish Sun report in November suggested that Rangers were mulling over the prospect of offering the 28-year-old a new deal.

However, given that Allan McGregor has recently signed an extension [Rangers.co.uk], staying on any longer would be detrimental to Fods’ career.
As long as McGregor remains at Ibrox, the Englishman will be the back-up option.
There’s nothing wrong with that in the short term. Seeing out his contract was a perfectly understandable route to go down, particularly with his young family based in Glasgow.
He’s now primed to enter the peak years of his career as a ‘keeper, though and it’s time for a new challenge.

A move to the Championship, a level higher than he was at before his move north of the border, would represent significant progression, too.
It’s the kind of move he’s earned through four years of service with Rangers, across which mistakes have been few and far between.
Brought to the club by Mark Warburton, he’s outlasted regime changes and experienced many highs and lows, but he needs more than the four appearances he’s made so far this season.
