In August, Steven Gerrard suggested he could look to bring in another striker in addition to Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, to ensure he had enough cover up top [Scotsman].
A week later, TEAMtalk reported that Rangers were ‘lining up a bid’ for Eamonn Brophy. That was after several English clubs had been said to be interested in the 23-year-old, but no deal had been done before the end of their transfer window.

However, to the relief of some Bears, no move to Ibrox materialised either, and so far this season, that’s looking like a good thing.
Brophy’s Kilmarnock struggles prove Rangers right not to move
Brophy has been a regular in a Killie side which has shown signs of improvement following an awful start under Angelo Alessio, winning three of their last five league matches.
However, the former Accies man has barely made a tangible contribution to date.
He’s played over 1000 minutes so far this season, spread over 12 appearances. Yet, he’s only found the net once from open play and hasn’t registered an assist [Transfermarkt].

He converted a penalty in the first leg of the Europa League Qualifying tie against Connah’s Quay Nomads – a tie Killie would embarrassingly go on to lose – while he scored a fine but ultimately futile goal in a 3-1 defeat at Celtic Park last month.
This distinct lack of goalscoring form proves the player isn’t Ibrox quality and that Gerrard was right not to swoop.
At best, Brophy would have been the third cab off the rank at Rangers, anyway, and due to the form of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, he wouldn’t have got near the starting XI up until this point.
