Rangers win against Livingston was one that was deserved but also one that threw up more questions than answers for Michael Beale despite the comfortable scoreline.
The defence and midfield looked good but the forward line still needs to be refined despite positive glimpses from the new signings.
A good start and finish bookended a mediocre middle third when frustration grew, however, Rangers showed enough to suggest that Michael Beale has some big calls to make for Servette and beyond.

The first one is Cyriel Dessers.
The Light Blues number nine huffed and puffed, had some good moments, but also some where he should have done a lot better.
The 28-year old was pivotal for the opening goal and improved his link up play from previous displays.
On another day, a header that flashed over, a volley from the penalty spot and a goal bound effort that was cleared off the line could also all have been goals.
Dessers looked better but there was something that still didn’t look right and Michael Beale has to find a solution for his new look Rangers team.
Rangers have quality but Michael Beale must get balance and tactics right
When Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima entered the fray, Rangers almost instantly looked more dangerous.

SPFL defenders are many things, however, rarely are they blessed with pace.
Matondo and Sima caused problems from the moment they came on.
Sam Lammers is establishing himself as the manager’s first pick in the number 10 role but his strengths lie in how quickly he moves the ball and his ability with the ball at his feet.
Centrally, he gets crowded out too often in the system Michael Beale is currently trying to implement for Rangers.
What we saw against Kilmarnock and Livingston is what we will see most weeks and we need to get more out of a player like Lammers.

The big Dutchman might not have the same speed across the ground as Matondo and Sima but he has the speed of thought required to cause SPFL defenders problems.
A secondary effect to Michael Beale apapting and playing with more width is that Borna Barisic and James Tavernier found themselves in more space for Rangers too.
Defenders had to engage in wider positions and got dragged away from the comfort of the box.
That Rangers haven’t replaced Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala to upgraded on Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright could come back and haunt us.
Michael Beale has a decision to make for Rangers.
Does he persist with a front three that looked good in the first half but hasn’t clicked yet or does he reward those that made such a positive impact after coming off the bench?
One is a show off faith, the other would mean going against his entire summer recruitment plan.
