Rangers fans group the Union Bears are not without their problems, but the passionate Ibrox singing section’s value to the club was laid bare against Livingston.
On a wet Wednesday evening even with a reduced capacity, the bouncing section in the Broomloan were in fine voice rattling through a selection of Rangers classics.

It was a noticeable contribution to the atmosphere of the evening, with Follow, Follow, Wolverhampton Town and Play up the Glasgow Rangers getting routine airings.
Whilst immature issues can persist – alleged sectarian singing from a Glasgow City Centre march embarrassed the club pre-Old Firm with six fans arrested – the potential of the Union Bears is mighty if they can get it right.
For them, they are certainly aware that they bring the atmosphere but with that is a clear responsibility to lead the chanting in the right manner.
There’s been much said about safe standing and a section within Ibrox which gives increased prominence to the group but for that to happen one suspects everyone has to meet in the middle.
However, for Rangers fans, when the group is on fine voice such as they were in the 2-0 win over Livingston their importance to the stadium’s famous atmosphere cannot be understated:

The positive feedback from the Ibrox support comes after the group announced that vice-captain Connor Goldson was the Union Bears’ Player of the Year from last season.
The big defender was an ever-present for Rangers in a legendary campaign and was a worthy winner of the award.
Rangers defeated Livingston 2-0 to earn a spot in the Scottish League Cup semi-final as Steven Gerrard looks to end his cup hoodoo at Ibrox.
The second-half introduction of a key Ibrox star proved the difference as Rangers fans showered this difference maker with praise.
