Rangers will wear an all-blue kit in the Europa League Final, according to a club insider who appeared to back up official UEFA press shots.
There were fears regarding a potential kit clash between Rangers and German side Eintracht Frankfurt, especially as the Bundesliga outfit are registered as the home side in the neutral contest.
This came amid talk of strict UEFA protocols between blue and black and Rangers having black elements in all three of their strips this season.
This intensified even further when Rangers rushed to released next season’s third kit, dropping the news it would be on sale less than 24 hours before it hit shelves.
UEFA take Europa League kit decision as Rangers to wear all blue v Frankfurt
The decision to launch the kit had plenty questioning whether the early release was due to UEFA regulations forcing the club to register a new kit with all roads seemingly leading to Nyon.
Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell even suggested this may be a possibility, with a decision on the Rangers jersey in the pipeline between today and tomorrow.
However, press shots regarding the final have shown the traditional home Rangers jersey positioned alongside the traditional black Frankfurt top.
As you can see, on the surface there is no clash at all but the issues appear to concern shading with those who are colourblind.
However these pictures – according to the Daily Record – hint that Rangers will be wearing their blue home jersey for the showpiece event in Seville on May 18th.
This was a notion backed up by Follow, Follow administrator Empire on Twitter, the generally reliable account claiming that Rangers will wear an all blue kit in the Final.
Empire claims this was confirmed by the club to him this afternoon.
It’s all very interesting and certainly asks the question why next season’s 3rd orange kit was released in such a hurry.
Nonetheless, Rangers fans are readying for a monumental trip to Spain but the club’s support await clarification regarding some issues still to be ironed out in Seville.
