Rangers fan excitement over new signing Todd Cantwell continues to bubble with reported £50m links to the Premier League still fresh in the memory.

The Ibrox side pulled off something of a January coup by moving for the 24-year-old, who can play in the middle of the park or out wide, with his career stagnating at Norwich City.

Having come through the youth ranks at Carrow Road, Todd Cantwell was once the most highly-rated prospect within the club and excelled as a teenager after breaking through in the Premier League.

Goals against Man City, Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal in the 19/20 season had clubs reportedly considering a £50m offer for his services and it stands as evidence of the talent the midfielder has.

If Rangers can harness the ability of Todd Cantwell, and get him firing again after a stagnant few seasons at Norwich, then supporters are right to be excited for a number of reasons.

Todd Cantwell in early Rangers impression

Rangers fans seen in the clash with Ross County, and saw in glimpses against Hearts and St Johnstone, that there is a really elegant player there who can carry the ball and link midfield and attack.

Todd Cantwell is a nimble footballer too who is always looking to play those progressive passes in and around the box, and is already threatening to add an increased impetus to Rangers’ often stagnant midfield.

Don’t just take our word for it either; the midfielder impressed ex-Rangers stars Richard Foster and Neil McCann on the Sportscene panel.

“I think this fella’s going to be really good once he gets up to speed and he understand’s the Scottish game,” said MdCann.

“He’s very talented. He’s very loose and relaxed on the ball.”

This comes after Todd Cantwell clipped the ball up for Malik Tillman to nod in Rangers’ opener against Ross County, with Ricky Foster branding the moment “brilliant”.

The early signs are certainly promising when it comes to Todd Cantwell at Rangers and let’s hope that the Ibrox club can benefit both on the pitch and off it when it comes to the player.

Meanwhile, Charlie McCann is one day eyeing a return to Ibrox.
