Rangers kid Alex Lowry helps stop the B Team rot with a stunning hattrick that sends a message to Michael Beale and the Ibrox management.

The Gers kids had lost three on the bounce to lose their grip at the top of the division with the return of Alex Lowry to the fold a clear difference-maker in what is the fifth tier of Scottish football.

Defeats to Hearts, Celtic and Spartans had clearly knocked the Rangers B team’s confidence and the club will be delighted to have gotten back to winning ways here.

Rangers fans have called for Alex Lowry to be given an opportunity at first-team level amid a season of injuries at the club, with the 19-year-old also suffering this campaign.

But after finding his chances limited with the Rangers first team, it’s good to see Alex Lowry back amongst the goals as a hattrick helps haul the young Gers back into form.

The influential midfielder got a first-half double either side of teammate Ross McCausland being sent packing, with the Gers playing the rest of the game with 10 men.

Despite Civil Service Strollers pulling one back early in the second period, Rangers stood firm to reclaim their form with Alex Lowry completing his hattrick towards the end of the game. Read the official Rangers report HERE.

“He’s close,” said Beale, when asked about Alex Lowry in December [Rangers].

”I think there’s areas of his game that I think are outstanding for a young player and there’s areas of his game I’d like to see him improve.

“I think I have to pick and choose the right moments and when he goes in I am expecting him to go in and stay in and be at this club for the long term and be one of the leaders moving forward.

“If you’re looking at one area that I have loads of experience, because everyone talks about experience, that is the area that I am skilled in.

“I think Alex is not too far away, what he must do, the teammate’s will pick him, so when he comes to see me, and he will from time to time, and say ‘gaffer when am I going to get a chance’, well, would your teammate’s pick you?

“So, in time, when the group settles, you’ll see more of Alex Lowry, but only if he deserves it, and the place that he’s got the deserve it is everyday in training.”
