In this morning’s pre-match press conference, James Tavernier joined Steven Gerrard to address the media.
The Rangers captain has divided opinion in recent weeks.
Many fans fans criticised him heavily after the defeat to Rapid Vienna and the stalemate away at Easter Road. Some even called for him to be stripped of the armband.

Yet, others are sticking by the skipper. With six goals and eight assists in the league this year on top of his defensive duties, he has clearly been extremely influential.
Ahead of tomorrow’s Old Firm, he called for one last major effort from the squad before the winter break.
🎙️JT: I'm expecting all the boys to empty the tank tomorrow then take a well-deserved rest. I want everything to give everything when we play against them.

As has been touched upon regularly of late, Rangers have had an extremely busy schedule this season.

Skhupi travelled to Ibrox on 12th July, and since then, only international breaks have put a constant flow of fixtures on pause.
Out of everyone in the squad, Tavernier probably needs the break the most.
There is no coincidence that his form has dropped recently, as unlike any other outfield player, he has been a near ever present in the starting line-up.

Regardless of previous workload, his comments today reflect what every Rangers fan will expect tomorrow.
Maximum effort, total commitment.
After Saturday, there isn’t another fixture for three weeks. Therefore, there can be no excuses.
At Ibrox, this constitutes a massive opportunity to finally win a derby and to prove Rangers’ title credentials.
Victory could be there for the taking if they want it enough.
