On Tuesday afternoon, Rangers announced record season ticket sales for the 2019/20 campaign.
Steven Gerrard’s arrival in May 2018 prompted record sales for last term. However, Bears have outdone themselves once again this time around, with the total sold rising to a massive 45,757 from 45,419.
What’s more, the waiting list is now approaching 14,000.
Whatever way you look at that, it’s an incredible show of commitment from Rangers fans.
Clearly enthused by the club’s new signings, the supporters will once more be turning out in their droves come next season. Ibrox will be packed to rafters week after week and the manager is delighted with the news.
‘We need to thank the supporters,” he told the Rangers website. “But we also need to take it as a compliment as they are obviously enjoying what they are seeing on the pitch.”
“They are educated fans, they know there has been progress and I think they can sense there is something exciting brewing. That’s how we all feel.
“It is brilliant news and I think they deserve to be rewarded – the players need to realise that. The fans were one of the highlights for me last season. I really loved being in front of them and coaching and managing in front of them. I am really looking forward to being in front of them again.
“They are top-drawer. They were with us in every game through thick and thin last year and we are hoping we get the same support this year.”
Particularly after all the Derby County speculation over recent days [Daily Record], it’s great to hear these comments from Stevie G.
With fans like these, why would he want to be anywhere else?
The season is now fast-approaching and he sounds as excited to get going as anyone. Here’s hoping he can repay the incredible support levels by delivering long-awaited silverware come the end of the campaign.
