Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack was an unused substitute as Scotland recorded a famous victory over Spain; but ahead of the match Alan Rough had the player in his sights.

The Ibrox star, 31, was the subject of Scotland boos from an Aberdeen contingent of the Tartan Army as the Pittodrie club’s followers continue to embarrass themselves.

This came after Ryan Jack played the bulk of the Scotland national team’s opening day 3-0 win over Cyprus at Hampden, which came before the 2-0 victory over the Spanish.

That win – with both goals scored by Ryan Jack’s replacement Scott McTominay – will go down as one of the biggest in Scotland’s recent history and has boosted the nation’s qualifying hopes.

Ryan Jack left out as Scotland land famous Spain win

The fact Ryan Jack never got any minutes for Scotland against Spain will only embolden the simpletons who continue to attack the player due to his Rangers loyalties.

This was evident heading into the game, with cerebral powerhouse and ex-Celtic goalkeeper Alan Rough grunting out Ryan Jack’s name when talking about the Cyprus game.

Making the claim via a gathering of Scottish football’s greatest minds (ha!) on PLZ Soccer, Rough couldn’t resist getting a dig at “the Rangers boy” Ryan Jack.

Whilst the Scotland team deserve huge credit for getting the victory over Spain, be rest assured there are already plenty taking aim at Ryan Jack rather than just enjoying the win.

The fact the Rangers midfielder never played against Spain is seen as an ever bigger W for some rival supporters and if anything it just shows up the tribal nature of our small-minded game.

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has made 15 appearances for the Scotland national team and is known to be a key part of Steve Clarke’s European Championship qualification plans.
