Rangers have allegedly spoken to Frank Lampard on three separate occasions ahead of a potential move to appoint him.
Rangers are hunting for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale late on Sunday night.
Beale just couldn’t live up to his own words as Rangers continued to look disjointed even after his summer spending.
There have already been a number of managers linked with the Rangers job but one rumour appears to be gathering momentum.
Rangers targeting Frank Lampard
Glasgow World claimed on Monday that Rangers have a real interest in speaking to Frank Lampard about replacing Beale.
The Daily Telegraph add today that Lampard is open to talking to Rangers and he is one of a few prime names in contention.
Chelsea reporter Simon Phillips now claims on Twitter that Lampard has already spoken to Rangers on three occasions.
Phillips claims that the most recent conversation was last week, which may mean that Lampard is seeking more formal talks with Rangers after initial contact.
Phillips adds that Lampard to Rangers ‘seems to be advancing’ with Beale now out of the picture.

Lampard unlikely to get Rangers fans excited
Lampard is a huge name in the game having made himself a Premier League legend in his Chelsea playing days.
There is a real parallel to Steven Gerrard in this regard, but Lampard’s managerial record won’t inspire excitement at Ibrox.
Lampard did take Derby County to a play-off final but then walked straight into the Chelsea job and was sacked after 18 months; the Blues won the Champions League just months later.
Lampard headed to Everton and whilst he kept them up in 2022, they were in major trouble before his sacking in January of this year.
A return to Chelsea materialised following Graham Potter’s exit but Lampard won just once in 11 games.
There have to be major questions over Lampard’s tactical ability at the top level and his managerial career so far doesn’t point to him being the big answer for Rangers.
