Reported £19m ex-Rangers star name on prestigious award shortlist

Ex-Rangers loanee Amad Diallo has been named on the Golden Boy shortlist alongside some of the biggest talents in football.

The award recognises the brightest talent in the game each year and Man United youngster Amad, 19, is widely regarded as one of the brightest young players in the game.

Included on a list of 100 players, Amad is unlikely to win the award but takes pride of place alongside some of the biggest talents in the game.

Joined by Man United teammate Anthony Elanga, Liverpool pair Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho are also included on the Golden Boy shortlist.

Current holder Pedri – the Barcelona and Spain midfielder arguably the brightest talent in the game at the moment – is unlikely to win the award again.

This is because a new winner is generally announced every season, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and new Bayern Munich signing from Ajax, Ryan Gravenberch amongst the favourites for the award.

Rangers fans are well acquainted with the classy Bellingham following the impression he left on the club during his visit with Borussia Dortmund.

Amad Diallo might not lift the award but it’s telling the ex-Rangers loanee has been included on the list.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Red Devils in an initial £19m deal just over a year ago but Rangers fans are well aware of the rawness in the kid’s game.

Undoubtedly talented, Amad needs greater exposure to first team football and there are plenty who’d take the winger back at Ibrox for another season next campaign.

Maybe then the club would begin to see the best of a player who is on the European Golden Boy shortlist and who could go on to become amongst the best players in the game.

Some fans have even been reading into social media messages from the youngster as the urge Amad to come back to Ibrox for one more year.
