Rangers star John Lundstram has been heavily criticised by supporters after appearing to give up on a loose ball ahead of the opening goal in the defeat to St Johnstone.
Gers fans have been left fuming after the club dropped yet more points in the title race with seven points now between the Ibrox side and Old Firm rivals Celtic after the 2-1 defeat in Perth.
As a result manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a man on the edge at Ibrox with the club now surely considering the Dutchman’s position amid a spate of woeful performances and results.
But the players are certainly anything but innocent and Rangers fans have been quick to criticise everyone in the squad for a series of pathetic displays that have the club’s Premiership season hanging by a thread.
With Hearts to come on Wednesday before a trip to St Mirren – who beat Celtic 2-0 in Paisley earlier in the season – any more dropped points surely spells the end of the club’s title tilt.
John Lundstram feels Rangers fan wrath after St Johnstone moment
Whilst there’s been something of a scattergun in the wake of the result in Perth, much criticism has been levelled at John Lundstram for his role in giving up possession ahead of James Brown’s opener at McDiarmid Park.
An over enthusiastic Lundstram loses control of the ball before pulling out of a challenge and acting frustrated instead of tracking back to win the ball.
The ball when then go down the Rangers end and the Ibrox side struggled to deal with the attack before Brown stunned the Gers with a St Johnstone bullet ahead of half-time.
For Rangers fans who have criticised a lack of responsibility and leadership in their squad, the fact a senior star in John Lundstram has acted so petulantly in the build up to a goal hasn’t gone down well.
Rangers fans have begun to turn on this management and squad of perennial domestic let-downs with hope quickly evaporating that this team have the mentality to haul back the lead in the title race.
It’s up to the players to answer the criticism and far from respond amid an injury crisis and downturn in form, there are plenty who’ve gone into hiding on the pitch instead.
Whilst John Lundstram gets it in the neck here, Rangers fans are sick and tired of being let down by the club from top to bottom.
