It’s been a fantastic few days for Rangers Football Club.

The first team’s hard fought win at Tynecastle took them top of the SPL for the first time at this stage since 2011.

However, on Monday afternoon, another outstanding result showed that it’s not just the present that’s bright for the Gers. The future doesn’t look too bad either.

The Rangers Reserves dealt out a 5-0 hammering to Kilmarnock at the Hummel Training Centre. In the process, they extended their lead at the top of the SPFL Reserve League to five points.

18 points from just seven fixtures to date is an impressive haul. But, it was the manner of Monday’s win that was particularly impressive. First team stars Nikola Katic, Lee Wallace and Borna Barisic were afforded a run out. However, it was the Academy players who did the scoring.

Jordan Houston, Dapo Mebude and an Andy Dallas brace saw the Gers streak to a 4-0 half-time lead. Dallas then completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Graeme Murty, Head Development Squad Coach, was pleased to stretch the lead at the top of the SPFL reserve league.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: ‘I thought there were parts of it where we were very good. I thought some of our play was really slick and the way we joined in a group of players who haven’t really played together was quite good from us.’

‘I thought everyone went about it in the right manner, but i am always greedy and I want more from the guys. But I can’t be too down on them as they have gone and got a clean sheet and result, and I am obviously pleased for that’, he added.

The club is certainly experiencing great form at all levels at the minute. Let’s hope it can continue in that vain throughout December.
