Rangers fitness issues have been covered extensively over the last couple of years and Philippe Clement seems intent on leaving no stone unturned to rectify the issue.
The new Gers boss has identified one area already where his squad could improve and it was a key factor in winning the Scottish Premiership title in 2020/21.
Rangers CryoAction facility at the Auchenhowie training ground appears to be gathering dust and, as reported by The Scotsman, Philippe Clement can’t understand why.

Rangers problem revealed by Philippe Clement
When asked specifically about Danilo undergoing personal therapy to help deal with potential confidence issues relating to his facial injury, Rangers manager Philippe Clement was quick to point that others could follow his lead:
“That is good. I like players who are ambitious and who look at the small margins to become better.
“For example, we have a cryo chamber here that was not heavily used before. We talked about that. It helps players who have inflammations, they disappear faster so they have less risk of injury.
“It helps in recovery. I used it myself when I was a player and I know the effect. It was very clear that it helps.
“After I said it once, everybody is going now after every game. Those are the things we need to improve as a group all together. We need to educate the players what it is to be a top professional.”

What makes this even more bizarre is that, in 2020, shortly after the facility was installed, former Rangers head of performance, Jordan Milsom, was full of praise for its benefits, no wonder Philippe Clement is so keen to see it being used again:
“We feel CryoAction helps facilitate this process. Since its installation, over the past 6 months, we have seen subjective and objective benefits of this modality and it has become firmly ingrained in the players daily routine.”
This is the problem with changing staff and personnel.
The club’s medical and fitness team should rarely change and protocols like recovery should be set in stone based on the newest and most accurate research.
It’s incredible to think that standards were allowed to slip at the club to the extent that a key component of recovery after training and after games became an optional extra.
If Rangers are to get back on top, having a fully fit squad and whatever extra gains Philippe Clement can get out of his squad is going to be vital – whether they like it or not.
