Rangers boss Michael Beale has confirmed the club are closing in on new signings; but was giving nothing away amid links to Tom Davies, Todd Cantwell and even Nicolas Raskin.
The incoming Gers manager has previously claimed that midfield is an area Rangers want to strengthen and was faced with questions on two players specifically after the 2-0 win over Dundee United.
Expectant Rangers fans are eager to see who Michael Beale will add to the ranks in the coming days and one journalist asked specifically about Everton midfielder Tom Davies and Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell.
Rumours had spread online about both players in the run up to the Arabs match with more official reports emerging surrounding Todd Cantwell later in the weekend.
Tom Davies and Todd Cantwell Rangers rumours addressed
Whilst the Ibrox boss was coy on any potential deals, a forthcoming Beale did discuss both midfielders and his opinions on them whilst insisting any Rangers transfers must be for the right players.
“No names but I think they are both good players to be fair,” said Beale [Rangers].
“Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool Under 23s.
“I thought he would go on and have a fantastic career. He had that at the start and he is maybe just looking for a move to re-ingite it but I think he is a fantastic player at a good age. And Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under 23s team all around the place.
“There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him. I’m not confirming anything with those two. But there’s a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment.
“I have to be excited about working with someone and the journey they are going on. I have to feel that they are someone who can come to Ibrox in front of 52,000 and really will grow and not shrink.
“That is the biggest question I have when I sit in front of a player – are they going to shrink at Ibrox or grow. We need growers and people who are going to come in in the next two or three years and help us win trophies and do well in Europe.
“That is the most important thing now. If I was to rush it and get it wrong, you’ll all condemn me. I hope you will be excited as I am about the two or three additions we are hoping to do.”
The Ibrox manager also hinted that there will be some movement from Europe in the comings days and weeks, something which will be of interest to Rangers fans tracking Nicolas Raskin.

The Gers failed in a summer bid to sign the out-of-contract star and amid links to Ligue 1 and a contract stand-off at Standard Liege, the player has now been banished to the reserves and is expected to leave this month.
It’s all about adding competition for Michael Beale and the comments have certainly turned a few heads.
“We would like to have new faces in the building,” said Beale.
“I want to add competition. That’s really what I want to add. It will add competition. The training level has gone up every week since I have been here.
“I think one or two players maybe coming in from Premier League clubs or clubs around Europe with a real good profile that will certainly help us. I want to turn the dial up in the building.”
Meanwhile, a top young attacking talent is set to return to Rangers from a club of Glasgow rivals.
