According to Football Insider, Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas is set to land a new contract at Ibrox.
The 20-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2019/20 season [Transfermarkt], but it’s suggested he’s indicated he will accept new terms recently tabled by the club.
If this is the case, it would come as something of a surprise, given the player’s lack of recent involvement at first-team level.

Included ahead of the likes of Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt, Barjonas played a relatively large part in pre-season preparations, but once the campaign began in earnest, he dropped out of the reckoning.
With Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo, Andy King and Greg Docherty all ahead of him in the pecking order, and Ross McCrorie out on loan at Portsmouth, his long-term playing prospects looked to be slim.
Yet, if an offer has been tabled, the club clearly feel he could have something to offer down the line.
The youngster already has nine league appearances for the first team, but the last of those came way back in December 2017 as an early substitute in a home win over Motherwell.

Following loan stints at Bury and Raith Rovers last season, he’s with the Development squad for the time being and has played in all three rounds of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup campaign, scoring once and registering an assist.
He also scored from range in a friendly defeat against Carlisle United last week.
