Last week, Birmingham Live reported that English Championship side West Brom are interested in signing James Tavernier this summer.
It’s no surprise that the Rangers skipper has attracted interest.

After all, he notched 14 goals and registered 14 assists in the league alone this season. That’s more direct goal involvements than any other player in Scotland. From right-back.
Slowly but surely, he’s also proven those who have criticised his defending, wrong.
He made the odd error over the course of the season, but that can only be expected when you play 57 matches. That’s more than any other Gers player.

During the club’s late-season run of form, he put in several strong showings at the back, most notably in the recent Old Firm victory over Celtic.
He’s been an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s side. As the skipper, he’s fronted up week after week, only missing the final game of the season at Rugby Park.

Therefore, he would leave a considerable void if the Baggies successfully tempted him South of the border.
Encouragingly, though, it looks like he intends on staying put.

The 27-year-old posted on Twitter on Sunday evening, to thank the fans for their support throughout the season.
Tellingly, he ended the tweet with ‘see you soon’ followed by a Union Jack.

It seems as though he’s focused on staying with Rangers and leading the charge towards no.55 next season.
Clearly, it’s important that Gerrard signs new players, but this summer, it’s equally important he keeps hold of the cream of the current crop.
