Less than a fortnight ago, Rangers confirmed via their Youth Development Twitter account, that exciting Academy talent Serge Atakayi, had left the club.

The move is only temporary though, as he joined Finnish Veikkausliiga side SJK Seinajoki on loan. In general, the deal seemed to go down well with Gers fans.

Since it’s a league which runs mainly through the summer months, he arrived just in time for the first fixtures.

Atakayi started in a 1-0 win over HIFK, only two days after the move was sealed.

With his debut out of the way, the 20-year-old was in action again on Saturday.

Encouragingly, he starred in a 2-1 win away at Inter Turku.

Not only did he play the full 90 minutes, but he revealed on Instagram that he was also awarded man of the match.

It’s a fantastic start to his stint in the Finnish top flight.

He left in order to get regular game time and it’s clear he’s going to get that.

Furthermore, it’s exciting that he’s able to adapt straight away to the demands at a new club.

He has experience of playing in the country having made his senior debut for FF Jaro and spending some time at JBK before signing for the Gers. After all, he is a Finland Youth International.

Yet, this is still a top-flight European League and it augurs well he has rocked up and started influencing games quite so quickly.

This looks a good move for the young forward and here’s hoping there will be more strong showings over the coming weeks.
