‘The purpose of this role is to assist the Deputy Head Groundsperson to provide and maintain high standards of groundsmanship at Ibrox and the training centre as deemed by the company and in line with requirements of top-level professional football,’ reads the job description.

The Ibrox pitch has been an area of concern for some time.

Last season, the surface responded badly to poor winter weather. A Premiership fixture against Livingston in February was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, while attempts to remedy the situation left the surface looking bare and bumpy.

It was hoped that extensive work carried out in April 2020 had solved the problems but they reoccurred again this winter.

No fixtures were directly impacted this time around but supporters expressed concerns that a substandard surface would have a negative impact on performance levels.

Better weather in recent weeks has allowed the current team to get the pitch closer to optimum condition but it appears that the club feels an extra pair of hands is necessary ahead of next season.

The closing date for applications is 7th May.
