Rangers links to Standard Liege midfielder and Belgian U21 international Nicolas Raskin have been confirmed by the player’s representatives.
The 21-year-old midfielder was linked with a late move to Rangers in the summer following the club’s qualification for the Champions League group stages.

But as things would transpire Rangers would fail to invest in an ageing squad in the summer with the Gers humiliated in their first foray amongst Europe’s elite for 12 years.
At the time, the suggestion was that any move for Nicolas Raskin depended on the situation with midfielder Glen Kamara, who’d been linked with a £10m move to OGC Nice.
But after that deal collapsed in the late stages of the transfer window, so did any prospective Rangers move for Nicolas Raskin and the links have since reappeared heading into the January window.
Future of Rangers-linked Nicolas Raskin uncertain
Out of contract come the end of the season, one of the player’s representatives have been speaking to the Scottish Daily Express and confirmed those Rangers links back in the summer.
But they could not confirm if Rangers were still interested in Raskin with the player’s future still up in the air heading into January.
“There was interest in the summer from Rangers,” said the representative.
“We knew about that but nothing happened. As far as we are aware it ended last summer and there has not been any interest at this point.
“We have not been told of anything coming from Rangers in January.
“Of course, it is well known that Nicolas is out of contract next summer and there are many clubs who are alert to that fact. We have not begun any talks with Standard on a new contract.”
Meanwhile, one outside bet for the Rangers job has ruled himself out of the running.
