Rangers legend Mark Hateley has praised Steven Gerrard, in an interview with the Glasgow Evening Times.
As a Club Ambassador, the former Ibrox goal machine sees the manager operate on a day-to-day basis and he only has positive things to say about the revolution he’s started.

He sees the hours being put in and the changes in the background which have brought improved results on the pitch.
Rangers legend Hateley praises Gerrard
“All small margins add up in football, little gains can make you and little losses can cost you…that is why the professionalism that Steven brings to the club is so important and it rubs off on everyone around the club,” Hateley told the Glasgow Evening Times. “He got Rangers straight away, which was important.”
“He knows how much it means to the fans and what the fans mean to the club, it is similar to Liverpool in that sense. He understands Rangers and to be where we are right now is great to see.
“This club has been sleeping, shall we say, for a while, but it has well and truly been woken now. All I can say is that Steven has played a massive part in waking this club up.”

Verdict
It’s hard to argue that things have improved markedly since Gerrard was handed the manager’s job.
He’s brought in a raft of new players and made changes to the club’s footballing infrastructure, including major improvements to the Hummel Training Centre.
It’s his first foray into senior management, and he hasn’t got everything right. The team selection and tactics in last month’s home Old Firm, for example, were well off the mark.
Yet, in general, he’s worked wonders and has built a team which finally looks capable of competing for major silverware.
It’s early days, but right now, the Gers are top of the Premiership, in the League Cup semi-final and competing in a tough Europa League group.
No wonder Hateley, who tasted so much success during his time with Rangers as a player, is feeling positive.
