When things aren’t going right at Rangers, things aren’t going right, as Ryan Kent found out when he was hooked at half-time against Alashkert and got caught up in shirt a sponsor row.

For reasons yet to be made clear, the Ibrox winger took to the pitch with a 32 Red domestic kit sponsor whilst the rest of the side wore the Unibet European sponsor.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t such a big deal, but Rangers’ red cheeks were intensified by much galling criticism from our Old Firm rivals.

There seems to be some kind of weird fascination with the Rangers kit room across the city as if any minor mishap is evidence of some kind of administration 2.0 or of mass unrest at Ibrox.

I mean, it’s not like them to join dots that aren’t there. Nope, not at all.

But laughs aside, the kit sponsor fiasco had some Rangers fans demanding better of a club who’ve experienced their fair share of kit clangers in recent seasons.

From that mysterious red kit worn against NK Osijek in Croatia in 2018 to the infamous Kemar Roofe Roffe kit of August 2020, it’s not the first time this kind of story has drawn traction.

But whether this was a simple case of unpreparedness or an unlikely segue into administration, Gers fans are demanding higher standards from their side on and off the pitch:

Rangers did eventually run out 1-0 winners over Alashkert but did so the hard way having been reduced to 10 men in the first half following John Lundstram’s red card.

Kent was also hooked at half-time as his miserable start to the season continues with the winger hitting the bar in the first half.

Rangers also announced a new signing at halftime but read more about why Juninho Bacuna presents a European headache for the Ibrox club.
