Kent, 26, has been at Rangers since 2018, initially joining the Gers on loan from Liverpool before the Ibrox side forked out £7m one year later to make the deal permanent.

However there has been murmurs of discontent regarding the recent form of Ryan Kent who has struggled to find the back of the net and has cut a frustrated figure in recent months.

Whilst there were flashes of talent under Dutch manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, it’s hard to argue against a downturn in form which has many questioning a new contract for Ryan Kent.

Couple this with the suggestion of exorbitant wage demands and it’s fair to say the player’s future is anything but settled with Ryan Kent able to discuss contract terms elsewhere next month.

But speaking after the 3-0 friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen, incoming Rangers boss Michael Beale has insisted that Kent “wants” to be at Rangers and that all is not lost on the contract front.

Michael Beale convinced Ryan Kent “wants” Rangers deal

“We don’t want anyone here who doesn’t want to be here,” said Beale.

“Now I think Ryan does want ‘to be here’.

”To be fair with Ryan it’s a look.

“I give him a certain look then he gives me a look.

“I trust Ryan. Sometimes he wants to do so well he does too much and confuses himself.

“Less is more. Play with a smile on your face and keep your energy pure. For Kent the other things will take care of themselves.

“A lot is written about certain players but Ryan is one of the best players in this league. He is sensitive. He thinks a lot and he cares a lot.

“Ryan has been so committed here.

“One or two things have been said about the fee paid for him, but he’s been here a long time now.

“He has certainly paid that back by being part of a team that has won a league, got to a Europa League final and played in the Champions League.

“He is one of the players I came back to Rangers to work with because we have such a good relationship.

“If it’s six months, if it’s six years – I don’t know how long I’m going to be here.

“The big thing is to get back working with the group. All those conversations can come in time.

“Everything is looking really positive but there has been a huge change here.

”Change for the worse, change for the better? Time will tell.

“But Ryan wants to be part of an exciting Rangers moving in the right direction.”

Whilst the Ryan Kent contract conversation continues to rage, Rangers are getting back on their feet under Michael Beale.

Following the 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, the ex-Liverpool star isn’t the only one Beale wants to be handed a new deal at Ibrox.
