Rangers boss Michael Beale has revealed the extent of an injury to Kemar Roofe – and claims the striker is on track to return for the League Cup Final with Celtic.
In a monumental boost to the Ibrox club’s squad, the 30-year-old forward is expected to be fit for the showpiece Hampden Final after firing the winning goal in the 2-1 extra time win over Aberdeen.

This goal was Kemar Roofe’s first of an injury-blighted campaign and the striker continues to suffer a rotten run of bad luck after being forced off in the victory over the Dons.
Landing awkwardly on his shoulder, Rangers boss Michael Beale is known to be a huge fan of the striker and his repeated absences since the gaffer took charge have been a major bug-bear.
Kemar Roofe Rangers injury latest
Speaking after the knock was more closely assessed, Rangers will not be having surgery on the injury issue and Kemar Roofe is expected to spend a month out of the team whilst the shoulder problem heals.
That means the ex-Leeds United and Anderlecht forward is expected to return ahead of the crunch League Cup Final clash with Celtic.
“It will be four weeks,” said Michael Beale [Rangers].
“With Kemar we’re not going down the surgical route with it. It is one that is in between giving it time or surgery.
“Kemar has decided he wants to do that. He’s feeling better but it will be three of four weeks until we see him back. Probably the middle of February in time for the cup final. Good timing.
“It was dependant on what the specialist said to be honest, whether an operation or letting it try and heal was better.”
Rangers’ season to date has been badly interrupted with injury problems with Connor Goldson, Ben Davies, Filip Helander, John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Ryan Jack, Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe all missing at various points of the season for a substantial period of time.
Whilst several have returned, Rangers are still missing several key stars to injury and the news surrounding Kemar Roofe is a boost after the worrying knock sustained in the win over Aberdeen.
Meanwhile, there’s a debate raging surrounding the future of one Rangers star.
