Rangers flop: 'Non-existent' Caixinha relationship doomed my Ibrox stint

Rangers flop Michael O’Halloran has opened up on his time at Ibrox, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
Now back at St Johnstone, via the A-League, the 28-year-old is rebuilding his career.

Injury and lack of form ensured progress had been slow, but he opened the scoring for the Saints in a 1-1 draw with Livingston on Saturday.
That’s more than he ever managed for Rangers. However, he claims his Ibrox failings weren’t all down to him.
“Non-existent”, he said, as quoted by
the Scottish Sun, when asked to describe his relationship with former manager, Pedro Caixinha.
“I still don’t know what the problem was but from day one he just didn’t like me. I turned up every day, worked hard but my face just didn’t fit and that was it.”
Furthermore, he was asked why it ultimately didn’t work out at Rangers.
“I just don’t think I got a proper run in the team,” O’Halloran replied. “Under Mark Warburton, I felt I had to be the best player on the park to avoid getting dropped.”

Verdict

It’s interesting to get this kind of insight from a player who has since left the club.
Clearly, Pedro Caixinha had his own way of doing things. He wasn’t a fan of O’Halloran, but a lot of that opinion was probably rightly founded on his displays under Mark Warburton.
The forward believes he should have got a better crack at the whip. However, in 24 appearances in all competitions in 2016-17, he failed to score a goal or register an assist.
Therefore, his performances hardly justified more trust from his managers.
With St Johnstone, though, he looks to be back at his level and will be an important player for Tommy Wright next season.
