Ranger fans were up in arms during tonight’s clash with Kilmarnock.
Things were going so swimmingly, too.
In a tough away fixture, the Gers got off to an excellent start.
The new formation didn’t take long to kick into gear, with Steven Davis linking up the play well in midfield.
Then, in fairytale fashion, Jermain Defoe opened his Rangers account on competitive debut.
Despite an exceptional performance in last month’s Old Firm, the Nottingham Forest loanee looked nervy in the opening stages.
In the 22nd minute, he received the ball under no apparent pressure.
He dithered, failing to make a decision on whether to go short or long.
Eamonn Brophy stopped the hesitation and pounced. With Worrall off balance, he surrendered possession.
Killie’s top scorer skipped through one-on-one with McGregor and finished with aplomb.
It proved to be the turning point, as the Gers went on to lose 2-1.
It’s fair to say Bears weren’t happy on Twitter, and they called for the reinstatement of a forgotten man.
The Croatian hasn’t started for the first team since the 7-1 win over Motherwell in November.
Worrall is a decent basic defender who can challenge and win things in the air but not good enough to play from the back.
