On Saturday afternoon, Rangers released an official statement.
Entitled ‘Let’s Go’, it’s aimed directly at the supporters ahead of a season-defining fixture.
The Gers take on Aberdeen on Sunday, in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

The competition is now, undoubtedly, the club’s best chance to secure silverware.
However, going into the fixture, there has been some controversy. Rangers fans are under scrutiny for inappropriate chanting on match days.
Clearly, this is the club’s attempt to influence the fan base.
Support in the ‘correct manner’
‘The majority of our club’s supporters recognise that they are the club’s ambassadors and that unacceptable behaviour has no place in our ranks’, the statement reads.

‘Let’s go to Aberdeen determined to ensure that triumphs, like that wonderful Scottish Cup replay triumph against Kilmarnock last week, are not downplayed because of negative headlines generated by unacceptable chants and songs.’
Furthermore, it stressed that failure to change would be harmful to the club as a whole.
‘If this continues, those fans who indulge will succeed only in damaging their own club. Support the team. Be louder than our opponents and drive our players forward but let’s do so in the correct manner.’

Finally, it warned against giving detractors ammunition.
‘Let’s not give anyone a chance to criticise this great club, your club.’

Judging by the responses on Twitter, this is dividing Rangers fans.
Some wholeheartedly agree, while others are clearly skeptical.
