Rangers fans have sent pleading messages to former player Daniel Candeias on Twitter, imploring him to return to the club amid a wretched run of results.

The Portuguese joined the Gers in 2017 and was a regular across his time at Ibrox, racking up 97 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and registering 25 assists.

However, he left for pastures new in the summer amid concerns about his prospects of playing time, joining Genclerbirligi on a two-year deal.

The Ankara-based club are currently 11th in the Turkish Super Lig, with Candeias a key part of the starting XI as they look to avoid relegation come the end of the season.

The 32-year-old had one outstanding performance at Antalyaspor in October when he scored a hat-trick and registered two assists in a 6-0 win.

Those are his only goals to date, though, while he only has four more assists to his name from a further 22 league appearances.

Yet, plenty of Bears see him as a potential partial solution to the Gers’ current form and want him back at Ibrox.

There’s a sense that Rangers downgraded in the summer by moving on Candeias only to bring in the likes of Sheyi Ojo, Brandon Barker and Jordan Jones, none of whom guarantee the drive and work rate of the Caixinha signing.

Therefore, when he posted a photo from Gencler training on Twitter on Thursday, plenty of Bears were quick to plead for his speedy return.
