On Thursday morning, Rangers’ official Twitter account wished the manager a happy birthday.
Stevie G turns 39 today, a little over a year after taking charge at Ibrox.
He had a wonderful career as a player. With over 100 England caps and 500 league appearances for Liverpool, he was a legendary figure for both club and country.

He’s made a decent start to life in management, too.
Rangers have no silverware to show for that at the end of the 2018/19 season, which, undoubtedly, is a shame.
However, there’s been plenty of progress made with all aspects of the club.
On the pitch, the Gers broke the hoodoo against Celtic, secured more points than last season and finished a place higher, in second. The transformation in Europe was stark, too. From losing in the first qualifying round under Caixinha, Gerrard took them to the brink of knockout football.

Off the pitch, he’s made his mark too. The facilities at the Hummel Training Centre have been updated, while a similar process is now underway at Ibrox [RangersTV].
All these achievements mean that despite the lack of trophies, the vast majority of fans are firmly behind the manager.
Therefore, when the club posted a video to mark his birthday, it provoked plenty of positive reactions and well wishes from Bears.
The feature includes footage of his unveiling as boss, as well as his reactions to key moments from across his first campaign.
