Rangers fans are convinced that Ibrox defender Connor Goldson is set to commit himself to Ibrox after the defender sounded the title drum ahead of the new campaign.

Goldson, 28, is a vital part of Steven Gerrard’s side and played every minute of last season but with a year left on his current deal nerves began jangling over the player’s future.

But as he discussed his plans on RangersTV ahead of the friendly with Brighton it’s clear where Connor’s heart is ahead of next season.

The big defender isn’t resting on 55 and has Scottish footballing dominance in his sights.

“I sat down on holiday and thought about it and it sunk in a little bit what we done but I don’t think it’ll be until the end of my career when you really look back on last season and see how special it was,” said Connor.

“We know we made history and we’ll go down but now it’s time to decide what we want to do. Do we want to go and dominate or do we want to be known as the team that won 55?

“Do we want to go on now and win 56, 57, 58 or do we just want to be known as the team that won 55?

“Personally, that’s where my head is at and I think the gaffer will be drilling that home every day to make us try and go on and hopefully dominate.”

It certainly sound like Connor is at home in Glasgow and has a few more years with the Gers in mind as he prepares for next season.

Rangers fans are buzzing at these comments as the club’s vice-captain Connor Goldson appears to reaffirm his commitment to the Gers:

Goldson isn’t the only one who’s been talking about his future this weekend as fans get more optimistic by the soundbite regarding the defender’s future.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was clear the club is “confident” they can tie the centre-half down on a new deal in a recent interview.
