Rangers fans backing Ibrox star to “pocket” £64m Dortmund superstar

Rangers fans are buzzing about the prospect of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund once again visiting Ibrox – but they’re backing Calvin Bassey to clamp Erling Braut Haaland.

Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland, 21, is amongst the hottest properties in global football and barring a January exit will visit Rangers at Ibrox.

But with Calvin Bassey emerging as a solid defensive option for Rangers, fans are backing the 21-year-old Nigerian to keep the powerhouse striker quiet.

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland one of several talents set to visit Rangers

Erling Braut Haaland might be the name on the lips of Rangers fans after the Borussia Dortmund draw but there are plenty of talents likely to visit Glasgow.

England international midfielder Jude Bellingham, 18, is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in the game and was signed for £25m from Birmingham City as a 17-year-old.

There’s also Giovanni Reyna – named after Ibrox gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the son of ex-Gers star Claudio – as well as pacey Dutch forward Donyell Malen.

Alongside Erling Braut Haaland and his young teammates, there are also established seniors such as Germany stars Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt, and Emre Can.

And that’s before we talk Belgian international Axel Witsel or flying Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerreiro.

But for Rangers fans desperate to get a glance at Haaland, a potential battle with Calvin Bassey is entertaining them on Twitter:

Erling Braut Haaland tipped to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer

Interestingly, ahead of the clash between Dortmund and Rangers, the agent of Norwegian striker Haaland has already claimed he may leave the Westfalenstadion this summer.

Superagent Mino Raiola has claimed that the striker – who reportedly has a £64m release clause – will leave the club come the end of the season.

“Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. But there is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see,” said Raiola [Sky Sports].

“He can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City – these are the big clubs he can go to. City have won the championship five times in the last few years, much more than United.

“We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come.”

This means this is a superb chance for the Rangers support to grab a glimpse of the striker before Erling Braut Haaland takes off into the stratosphere.

Here’s how Borussia Dortmund reacted to the draw with Rangers as one Ibrox club partner chimed in after the Gers were drawn against their rivals.
