Rangers director Bisgrove 'thrilled' after pulling off latest major Ibrox feat

Since Bisgrove’s appointment in early 2019, Rangers have struck up a number of innovative and lucrative relationships.

The Gers now have official partnerships with three clubs – Hamburger SV, Orange County SC and Bengaluru FC – while a landmark kit and retail deal with Castore was also thrashed out.

Many other new sponsors have come on board, too, with an agreement struck with Bitci Technologies in February thought to be particularly lucrative.

Bisgrove’s latest coup is successfully arranging a friendly with Premier League giants Arsenal as part of the Gers’ 150th anniversary celebrations.

The fixture – which will see former Rangers midfielder and current Gunners boss Mikel Arteta return to Ibrox – will take place on 17th July 2021.

“Rangers’ 150th anniversary will be a special, special year for the football club, and I am thrilled Arsenal have accepted our invitation to come to Ibrox for a very special friendly match,” said Bisgrove [Rangers.co.uk].

“There is a rich heritage shared by the two clubs, and it is therefore fitting we should meet at the beginning of a real, milestone year for Rangers.

“With the Covid-19 situation easing, we are very hopeful we will be able to welcome a significant number of our supporters back to Ibrox to celebrate not only the club’s anniversary, but also the winning of 55 in-person too.”

Many fans are delighted with the news, with Rangers’ announcement receiving over 16k likes by the time of writing.

Arsenal were already in the good books of many bears after their anti-racism gestures and comprehensive victory over Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday evening.
