Former Rangers striker Mark Hateley has delivered a ringing endorsement of Steven Gerrard, as quoted by the Scotsman.
Hateley was a crucial part of the nine in a row Gers era, leading the line with Ally McCoist to great effect.

Now, he’s regularly seen at functions as a club ambassador.
On this occasion, he was doing his bit to promote mental health awareness at the SPFL Trust’s Golf Day.
“We are in a good place on and off the field, we’ve built strong foundations and I like what Steven’s done,” he said, as
“We are probably two windows in front of where I thought we’d be right now, when you consider the big changes in a short space of time.
“Steven is an ultra professional and a smart guy.”

Verdict
Gerrard may not have delivered silverware during his first season at Rangers, but there’s a general feeling that he’s going about things the right way.
Quality additions mean the squad is undoubtedly in a better place than it was when he took over.
Furthermore, he is revolutionising the club off the field, both at Ibrox and the training ground [RangersTV].
If he can keep the momentum building, surely success is just around the corner.
One way to ensure progression would be by making productive use of the upcoming transfer window.
