Rangers manager Michael Beale has been talking about the future of Glen Kamara ahead of the summer window and claims there has been plenty of interest in the player.

The Finnish international midfielder has been at Ibrox since the January of 2019 and is one of a number of players Rangers fans believe could be moved on in the summer window.

A talented player no doubt, there’s a feeling that the 27-year-old ex-Arsenal kid doesn’t have his heart in the fight at Rangers and that change beckons this summer.

Glen Kamara might also have left before this season, with a £10m transfer to OGC Nice reportedly collapsing on deadline day, and Michael Beale confirmed there have been plenty of suitors over the years.

Michael Beale talks Glen Kamara

In an interesting update on the midfielder’s future, the sounds certainly aren’t all that promising that Kamara’s future is firmly at Ibrox and we aren’t the only ones suspecting change is in the offing.

“Changes of managers, a change of ideas and changes of shape will move the goalposts for every player,” said Michael Beale when asked about Glen Kamara being dropped.

“Glen has had a lot of people interested in him.

“There’s always been something in the background with him, in terms of, could there be a bid for him? With what we paid for him (£50k) and where bids were maybe at, it was always interesting.

“He was essential to the way we played when I was here previously. And since I’ve been back, he’s had some big performances.

“Even in the last month, he was outstanding away to Hearts playing with John Lundstram and Malik Tillman. Away at Livingston, he was with Nico and Todd in a different role and he played well.

“But like the team, he fell below the levels against Celtic (in the Viaplay Cup Final defeat). We changed the midfield for the next game. Those three midfielders (Lundstram, Kamara, Tillman) are now out of the team and the other three (Jack, Raskin, Cantwell) are in because they’re playing well.

“I’m sure Glen will come again and he’s a boy I’m close to. There are no issues about how he’s training or how he is around the building. But, like every player this month, he’s had a bit more scrutiny on him.”

There have been high-profile Glen Kamara exit links to Serie A in recent months and we suspect Michael Beale will have a big call to make this summer.

Whether Rangers can recoup such a substantial amount for the player remains to be seen but there’s a feeling that Kamara has been given plenty of chances to reach a consistent level at Ibrox and failed to take them.

Meanwhile, Todd Cantwell continues to impress at Ibrox.
