It was only this weekend that reports were suggesting that Glen Kamara had played his last game for Rangers heading into the Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven.

The Finnish international midfielder, 26, has found himself in and out of the squad for the majority of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s reign and was dropped for the trip to Hibs at the weekend.

Off the back of this, journalists Graeme Bailey and Craig Vickers claimed via 90min that the midfielder was a target for OGC Nice and had been left out of the squad “because of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future”.

The midfielder was then linked with a move to Turkish giants Besiktas by Fotospor, with the Turkish media outlet reiterating long-term links to the likes of Brighton, Salernitana and Galatasaray.

But the Arsenal Academy graduate has roared back and after being recalled to the Rangers team for the Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven, we suspect he won’t want to go anywhere.

Glen Kamara plays starring role in Rangers win over PSV

The former Dundee man played a stellar role in the middle of the park and didn’t look for a second out of place alongside the likes of Joey Veerman and Man United-linked Ibrahim Sangare.

Kamara certainly didn’t look like a player who was looking to move on and given the quality of the midfielder’s performance anyone seriously looking to buy the player better be prepared to cough up.

It’s on this stage and in big matches where Glen Kamara has flourished, his technical ability to take the ball in tight spaces and turn away from the opposition an invaluable asset.

Rarely does Glen look overawed by these occasions and as Rangers prepare to take on the Champions League Group Stages for the first time in 12 years it would be a sore one to lose the player.

But for Rangers fans who’re now back onside with Glen Kamara after his stellar PSV Eindhoven showing, there is some good news if the latest reports are to be believed.

According to Fotospor, the interest from Besiktas depended on any prospective move from the Turkish club for Everton midfielder Dele Alli.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, the former England international is in Turkey putting the finishing touches on a deal that will potentially kill any interest in Rangers’ Glen Kamara.

Famously signed for £50k from Dundee in the January of 2019, Glen Kamara has gone on to make 164 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and signing a new deal last season tying him to Ibrox until 2025.
