On Tuesday afternoon, Rangers announced a new partnership with a North American organisation, via the club’s website.
The Gers are teaming up with Ontario-based RED Soccer Academy.
The deal will last for three years and will see Rangers coaches travel to Canada to train the Academy’s players and staff.
“It is a dream come true for RED Academy of Soccer to partner with one of the biggest clubs in Europe”, Stuart Mackie of RED told the club’s website.
“We are honoured, and extremely privileged for the opportunity to work with the Glasgow Rangers technical staff and we look forward to hosting a Glasgow Rangers Soccer School camp in August.”

Rangers International Soccer Schools Executive, Gary Crooks, also commented.
“We are excited to begin working with both Stuart and Peter at the RED academy”, he said. “Throughout our discussions, it was clear to see their passion for the football club.
“They have exciting plans to develop the players and coaching staff within their set up. There is a real synergy between both parties and the club is delighted to assist in the growth of their programme over the next few years.”
It’s certainly a mark of the club’s ambition to set up a partnership so far afield.
However, it certainly makes sense given the Canadian influence within the current squad.
Scott Arfield may have been born in Scotland, but he’s the current Canada men’s international captain.

How much the Gers play on that link is yet to be seen.
It will be interesting to see what tangible benefits, if any, emerge from this deal, over the coming years.
