Rangers and Benfica have once again been linked with a move for Bosnian goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic as his fine form continues and the club’s summer recruitment is questioned.
The Gers were linked with a summer move for the Balkans stopper, 24, by the Herald in the summer as the debate raged surrounding veteran stopper Allan McGregor and second choice Jon McLaughlin.

Plenty felt the club had to move for a more long-term option in the summer window but instead Rangers consolidated and many believe the club has already paid the price.
Vladan Kovacevic was one of a number of keepers linked to Ibrox but the Bosnian goalkeeper’s age and form had turned plenty of heads at Ibrox.
Named last season’s Estraklasa goalkeeper of the year, Kovacevic has continued his fine form into this campaign and has currently nine clean sheets in 12 matches in the Polish top flight this season.
Rangers and Benfica linked to Vladan Kovacevic
As a result of the fine form, those links to Rangers have reappeared online with several high-profile Bosnian footballing accounts making mention of the apparent interest.
This will be of note to Rangers fans who perhaps wanted to see the club invest in the position this summer and had been led to believe Vladan Kovacevic was already bound for Benfica.
Speaking to Sport, the Bosnian goalkeeper claimed that he had an offer on the table from the Portuguese club in the summer amid Leicester City links to Greek stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
“I have an offer from Benfica,” said Kovacevic.
”But we’ll see what will happen. If this transfer takes place, it would be very positive.”
In the end, Vlachodimos stayed with the Portuguese side and Vladan Kovacevic wound up sticking with Rakow as the links to Rangers went immediately quiet.
But it appears Rangers interest in the player hasn’t been completely extinguished and it will be interesting to see what the club’s plans are in the goalkeeping position heading into next season.
Should Vladan Kovacevic be a genuine Rangers target, then he’ll be competing with another young keeper the Ibrox side secured on a new deal in the summer.
