Controversial Rangers links to Hibs defender Ryan Porteous have been rubbished in the Scottish media.
Rangers’ interest in the Scotland international centre-back has been the talk of the press this week after comments from Clyde manager Jim Duffy.

Speaking on Clyde One Superscoreboard, Duffy claimed that he has heard Rangers are leading the chase to sign the out-of-contract 23-years-old Hibs defender.
This comes after the Easter Road club announced the departure of Ryan Porteous earlier in the season, with the defender set to leave Edinburgh come the summer.
There has also been a suggestion that amid a defensive injury crisis at Ibrox, Rangers might look to move for Porteous on a cut-price-fee this January.
Brakes on controversial Rangers links to Ryan Porteous
It’s led to much conversation surrounding the potential move, with Ryan Porteous and Rangers not exactly seeing eye-to-eye in the past.
But according to the Times, any talk of a Rangers move for Ryan Porteous is premature with the Ibrox club yet to make contact with the defender or with Hibs.
However, the newspaper does expect Ryan Porteous to leave Hibs in the coming weeks with bids expected to land ahead of the January window.
This would suggest that Rangers will need to fork out if they fancy singing the centre-back and it’s not exactly like Hibs will be in a rush to let one of their best prospects move down the M8.
The links comes at an interesting time for Rangers, with sporting director Ross Wilson admitting at the club’s most recent AGM that the Gers are on the hunt for homegrown talent.
This comes amid scrutiny over the signing of injury-prone defender John Souttar from Hibs’ rivals Hearts.
“We went into the Soutter signing with our eyes open, we believe he will contribute,” said Wilson [Rangers AGM].
“Not every player needs to play 60 matches a season but we need Scottish players.”
As the links to Ryan Porteous die down, Rangers are also being linked with a Premier League midfielder.
