Rangers talent Leon King is being closely watched by Premier League trio Man United, Newcastle United and Leeds United after making his Champions League breakthrough this season.

The 18-year-old centre-back is one of the most highly-rated talents in Scottish football and Rangers achieved something of a coup to get the kid to sign a professional deal with the club.

A clear pathway to the first-team has emerged for King who has taken advantage of serious injuries to the likes of Filip Helander and John Souttar to play a role this season.

This includes in the Champions League, where Leon King has been involved in all three group games so far and even started as part of a back three in the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

This is on top of the five appearances Leon King has made in the Scottish Premiership, with the centre-back playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 Ibrox win over Dundee United.

It shows just highly-rated the youngster is and according to the latest reports coming from Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano this has not gone unnoticed south of the border.

Rangers talent Leon King wanted by PL trio

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano claims that Premier League pair Newcastle United and Leeds United have been following the progress of Leon King at Rangers closely.

Romano believes that the fact King’s contract is up in 2024 – something Rangers will surely be looking to resolve – means that there are several top Premier League and European clubs monitoring his situation.

“I was speaking about talents and this boy playing for Rangers, born in 2004, he was a starter at Anfield against Liverpool in the Champions League,” said Romano.

“I’m told that Premier League, and in general, European clubs, are pushing to sign him because he’s out of contract in summer 2024 with Rangers.

“At the moment, the situation is absolutely open on his contract. Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester United have sent their scouts to follow this boy with Rangers, and so Leon King – one to watch.”

Rangers will be hoping that the kid’s recent exposure at first-team level convinces him to sign on at Ibrox for the next few years with the Scottish youth international surely primed to bank the club a fortune if he continues his progress over the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, Rangers have moved to sign up one Academy graduate for whom there are majorly high hopes at Ibrox.
